Our Method

Some call it environmental prevention; others would say it’s simply changing the landscape of the communities in which we live. We create a safer world for our youth and communities by challenging adult behavior and societal norms surrounding underage drinking and excessive alcohol consumption. Underage drinking is not merely illegal and unhealthy, it’s unacceptable. Furthermore, we recognize that excessive alcohol use is a significant public health problem.  We change laws and policies to reduce access to alcohol. We encourage increased enforcement of alcohol laws. We monitor the liquor licensing process throughout the state and educate the community with awareness materials and the media on alcohol-related issues. And finally, we engage youth and train community advocates and youth to be leaders on the issue.

Five-Pronged Approach

  • Policy initiatives
  • Enforcement collaborations
  • Education and awareness
  • Media advocacy
  • Youth Leadership

Our Vision

A measure of a man’s worth is not where he stands on issues of comfort and convenience, but rather, where he stands on issues of challenge and controversy.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

We believe that the issue of excessive alcohol consumption, including underage drinking, should not fall solely on the shoulders of young people but rather squarely at the feet of the adults in the community. The problem will not be solved with pencils, posters, and brochures. Adults create the world in which kids live and grow.
